10th Grade Omnibus: The Inklings

$2,000.00

Magdalen Classical Academy’s “10th Grade Omnibus: The Inklings” course invites students to delve deeply into the work of the Inklings, the famous group of twentieth-century Christian thinkers and writers that included C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dorothy L. Sayers, T.S. Eliot, and others. Students will explore literature and theology by reading and discussing great texts under the guidance of a mentor well-versed in the thought of the Inklings and the Christian intellectual and literary tradition that informed their writings. Texts include Mere Christianity, Orthodoxy, The Lord of the Rings, The Four Quartets, the Gospel of John, and more.

The ultimate goal of the course is for students to build out a robust understanding of Christian theology that is both intellectually sophisticated and applicable to the life of faith in circumstances encountered every day. They will be invited to ponder the beauty of God and the Christian faith, and also to apply the truths they are learning to their lives, encouraging them to practice virtuous maturity.

It is our hope that “10th Grade Omnibus: The Inklings” students will form sweet and lasting friendships with each other and with these great Christian thinkers and writers, becoming better writers, readers, and thinkers as they seek an ever-richer knowledge and love of God through the words and thoughts of those who have sought him before.

We recommend that parents and independent study programs count this class as meeting the requirements for 30 high school credits of English Literature and Composition (10), Critical Thinking (10), and Bible/Theology (10).

This class meets two days per week according to the campus schedule.

Note: If your student is taking an Omnibus class for the first time, they must also enroll in the online Writing Lab class.

Note: If you wish to enroll your student at our Fullerton campus, you must enroll through Peace Hill.
